There's a nice one close to us in Ft. Collins, CO. http://www.heronlakerv.com/ Lots of things to do for the kiddos: fishing, hike/bike, horseshoes, swimming, hot tub, etc.

We did a family outing there last spring and had a great time. Here's a photoshow: http://www.brownland.org/travel/0405/1.htm

Being in Calif, I have a couple.  Morro Dunes at Morro Bay-right across from the beach and they have a shuttle bus to town that picks up right in front of the place.  At Shaver Lake-Camp Edison-good campsites (electric and cable TV only at sites)-at about 5500ft elevation, in the pines and redwoods with the lake to play in.
We're going to San Diego for the forth time at Campland on the Bay.  Nice place with some full hookups and some with water and elec.  Right on the north end of Mission Bay and close to all the San Diego activites.  Even though it is $225 for three nights, that would just about cover one nights stay at a hotel near the water.
One more- near Paso Robles is Lake San Antonio South campground. In California srub oak and sage brush, but nice lake to both boat and swim in.  Good bicycling around the large campsite.
Now all you easterners will have a good cross section of typical California to choose from.  Good Luck, TomC

Our favourite weekend getaway is Moab Utah It's about 3.5 - 4 hours away from us.Anyway we always stay at Canyonlands campround, which is in downtown Moab.
Its open year round, the pool is heated, it's walking distance to the restaurants ,beer ,supermarket, movies did I say beer, there's the Moab brewery restaurant and bar and Eddy Mc Stiffs pub.
Then theres the activities like hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, Dirt biking ,ATV's ,rock crawlin.Oh the scenery is pretty dull there aswell ;D

Any of the state parks on the Northern California coast line above say Santa Rosa would be excellent choices. You can't go wrong staying in the Big Trees of Northern California as well along the I-5 interstate. Nothing like a big bus and bigger trees.

Good luck! ;D

My favorite campground has always been Piney Camp Ground in the Land between the Lakes of HWY 79 just north of Paris Landing State Park (Dover, TN) It is well run and a great place to camp I used to love it when my parents took us there as kids (in our S&S) from IN & I still love it today! They have literally hundreds of campsites (384 to be exact I think!), but it's not overgrown or crowded as 1 would think! It is beautifully laid out on the TN River/KY Lake, and is a very well designed, and kept up campground! It is awesome in mt book! Be sure to check it out on the web and make reservations plenty early, as it is a very popular place!

Now I have another favorite place I used to love to stop at when I was trucking, it's not a camp ground but you can spend the night there without being hassled and then roll on down to one of the real camp grounds down on the lake ! It's a pull off for senic veiwing of Bear Lake coming out of Logan, UT out to US 30 on US 89 near Bear Mtn Summit overlooking Garden City, UT Awesome Place I used to stop and spend the night there going both ways when I used to haul cheese (might be why I'm so cheesey! LOL) for Schrieber Foods from Carthidge, MO to Logan, Utah and back round trip ! I know it ain't a camp ground but it's an awesome sight looking down the Mtn. at the lake the temp. is always pleasant and there is plenty of room I used to get my little grill out and cook supper and watch the lake as to sun went downthen get up fix breakfast and then head on which ever way I was headed ! If I ever move again that's the area I'll be move'n to for sure ! BK ;D

Hi all,

Near Birmingham, Alabama is a place called Tannehill Historical State Park. It was a Civil war foundry and furnace. The place has been restored and has a wonderful museum. they also have Trade days one weekend a month which has alot of cool stuff.(Junk) It is possible to get in with a big rig, I did with an MC9. Lots of sites 100+, but hard to get a roof mount satelite through the trees. Site 107-109 have a "hole in the trees".

We consider this campground, East Branch River RV Park, a hidden gem.   If you want excitement, this is not for you.  If you want peaceful quiet, in Michigan woods, with great gravel sites, full hook-ups, very easy parking, fantastic hosts, AND only $26 a night, this is it.   A small stream through the park has steelhead in the spring and salmon in the fall.

I called for reservations and did not believe what I was told.  So, on the way to pick up our daughter at church camp, we drove though this campground.  The host did not exagerate.

Here is the web site

Tawas, MI is 10 highway miles away through a little traveled Michigan road.  Here are some Tawas events.
