When you leave the chat room a little pop-up window has to open for a few seconds that logs you out of it.  If you have a pop up blocker that blocks it, then it can leave you logged in there.  Usually after 30 minutes have gone by and  somebody else comes into the chat room then the system will correct itself.  Just one of the quircks of that chat software.
