Guardian Diesel Generator
« on: August 16, 2006, 01:09:50 PM »
I'm looking at a Guardian three cyl liquid cooled 7.7 KW generator that sounds like a pretty decent buy except it sure is heavy.

Does anyone have one of these, and, if so, how do you like it/

I never heard of Guardian? It is made in the US according to the vendor and the engine is made by Guardian. The problem for me is I never heard of Guardian before I saw this gen in the catalog.

I sure don't want to get stuck with a gen made in China.

My understanding is this is a B&S buyout of Generac - neither company provides the sense of security required in a genset - IMHO

Gusc,

A fellow contractor friend has a Guardian 7.0 Diesel gen in a hush box for his home as a backup.

Problem is, that it is a 3600rpm generator. not a 1800rpm like RV's use. I herd it run, and I wouldn't want it in my bus......

Good Luck

Thanks guys. I did some more net strolling and found out that Guardian is, indeed, our old friend Generac.  I've heard nothing but negatives about Generac on this board so that idea is gone.

This thing is too heavy and too many KWs for my use anyway.

It looks as if Honda is my best bet, there is no way I can go wrong with a Honda.
