I don't think the new "terms & agreements" will 'change' anything concerning how most of us use this board - but rather, they will explain things better up front so there are no fewer surprises later.

Very well said and exactly how we see it.  Off hand, I don't think there is really anything in the Terms of Use document that wasn't already the way things were being done.  Just written out and structured so as to keep things clean legally.

What about the posts and time for the poster to be able to edit it?

That is somewhat of a separate issue (although it did play a part in causing the review of the old member agreement document).  It will be going into the existing Forum Rules post stickied on the All Topics board.  The "Terms of Use" document covers the more legalistic issues such as copyrights, forum spamming, abuse, etc. and is not intended to be change much over time.   The Forum Rules post on the All Topics board is legally included into the Terms of Use by reference (giving it legal legitimacy).  The content of Forum Rules post is more focused on simple posting rules like it currenly does.  These are the rules that are more involved in the daily posting activities of members and other than publishing the decision on the option for members to delete their own posts or edit them.  Except as described below, it will still be the same as before (further affirming Kyle's point) but is more subject to changes when the need arises.

Now to address you question directly.  In the poll that Jack posted, forum members were pretty evenly divided on either 24 hour limit for editing or no limit.  The moderating team discussed it extensively, weighing recent events on the forum and the outcry over the loss of the posts.  The conclusion was:  members will be able to edit their posts, even up to removing all the content in their post, for up to 24 hours.  After that, if you want to change something, just contact any one of the moderating team and we will be happy to assist.  Software limits the choice on deleting to either yes or no.  So the decision was no.  There again, if something needs deleting, any moderating team member can assist you with it.

If the need to eidt a post (older than the 24 hour limit) or completely delete it is urguent, then simply click the "Report to Moderator" link in the upper right corner of posts and fill in the appropriate information in the box.

The new Terms of Use and Privacy Policy documents are now in place.

You can review them at any time by clicking on the new "Forum Rules" button on the menu bar.

As described earlier in this thread, the Terms of Use document contains the more legalistic items such as Copyrights, Spam, abuse, etc.  The "Forum Rules" thread that is stickied at the top of the All Topics board is officially included by reference.  The "Forum Rules" thread is where you'll find things mostly related to forum activities and conduct.
