need info -740- 6v92 in  1981 mc9, located 740-D 6v92 350HP out of a firetruck.what is the D designation,will it work.also in need of 2 glass side windows and supplier for windshield rubber.i'm in connecticut.

I have no clue on what the D stands for But on the sside glasses and the rubber try either Luke @ US Coach, Nimmco, or Rich @ IBP BK  ;D

I am sure the info is on the Allison website somewhere. If I remember correctly from a long time ago, the D version has a lock-up torque converter that does not unlock in 3rd and 4th gear but does in 1st and 2nd gear. It was the spec transmission for highway coaches. Someone on the board must have the foldout brochure that lists all the MD and HD transmission models with their specs.
