NEW ADDRESS FOR "Emergency Help Assist List"
« on: December 28, 2010, 07:16:48 AM »
Because of problems with Yahoo ( my old hosting service) the Help Assist list can not be accessed with the old address, there is a new address for the Help Assist List and it is:

www.help-assist-list.com

That's it, no fancy frills, just a help assist for everyone. Please make your changes accordingly. I hope this gets out to everyone and there are no inconveniences.

I have tested and re-tested the new Help Assist List and it works perfectly.

When the site opens you are on the Home page. Scroll down to see a listing of the states represented, click on the state and you will be transported to that states listing.

There is also a place to register, and a link to send me a PM if necessary.

I will probably add more stuff as time goes on, but fir right now I think that's enough.

Works ok on my end except using it on a smart phone and on the home page its sort of scrambled. If you can sort out the states, then click on the one you want, the next page is clear and good. Other than that, no problems.

I tried putting the new address into google and yahoo search and it takes me back to the original link above.at busconversion mag.If I click on it in this post it comes rite up. I've ck spelling periods dashes etc.  Maybe the moderators can put the new link in replace of the old one. would help the computer dumb like me be successful.  Bob  ps I can access thru search function on this board so I have a solution for myself or others having problems.

Bob,
Be sure that when you type the address into your browser that you include the dashes in-between the three words help-assist-list.com

I have updated the stickied post at the top of the All Topics board.

Regarding search engines, it can take time for them to update with changes.  Sometimes a long time depending on the frequency of changes to the content of a site.

The search engines like Google and Yahoo are highly automated but still not updated in "real time".  Best way to think of it is sort of like a phone book that gets printed annually.  Phone numbers change, new numbers are set up, old numbers are cancelled and all those changes take effect immediately in real life, but the phone book only gets updated each year.  Search engines are very comparable to phone books even though they do update much more often than that, but still not immediately.

Due to the size of the Internet, they "triage" the updating process.  News sites get indexed very often, even hourly on the biggest ones, and search results are updated quickly.  Other busy sites get indexed often too but not hourly (for example this forum gets indexed once or twice a day).  Less active, but steadily changing sites get indexed weekly or monthly depending on the frequency of changes.  Sites where changes are infrequent may only get indexed once every few months.

Thanks everyone for all the help getting this address changed over, I had really envisioned a complete nightmare, but it wasn't bad at ALL.

Thank you all again.
