Busnut Heaven
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:35:50 AM »

Had a great trip yesterday to busnut heaven.

Met hard headed ken at gene russels diesel.

More old buses and trucks.  Trucks with cummins, trucks with 12v detroits. dozers with old engines with poney motors to start them.

looked like the world supply of silver sides.

A building full of old hot rod fords. And a few new hot rod fords.

After a good nights sleep i am still druling out the mouth.

And a great day with two real busnuts and super guys. Also a world of knowledge about detroits. from old 2 stroke to the newest ddec models.

Look in this month's magazine at the Bussin' pictures, Gene's is the 1948 blue Silversides. Nice guy and good mechanic. His shop is less than 10 miles from my house.  Ned, you should have stopped by and seen my new parts bus.

Ned it was great to see you and meet Gene. I was amazed at Gene's knowledge. He is mechanic and a craftsman. I just wish there was a way to download that 40 years of experience on a hard-drive then we would have a diagnostic tool that would work on a 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 (with a 427), 1933 Caterpillar dozer or DDEC Series 60.

Hope to see Gene and his bride late next month at the April in the Carolinas rally, Palmetto Cove,SC - about an hour or so from his shop and classic car collection!  (See the Rallies and Events listings on this board.)
Wonder if there's time on the rally schedule for Gene to give a tour?
Uncle Ned - get that rally reservation in, and bring a classic motorcycle from your vast collection - preferably British!

Hi Brandon,

No the mill is not mine, but I live just 3 miles south of it on 221. And I work in Marion at Baxter.
