Oil Filter
« on: July 19, 2011, 08:18:45 AM »
What is a Thermatic oil filter?  The one we have seems to be the original type that takes an internal element.  It looks like the one shown in on old V71 manual we have for GM buses.  What is the advantage of changing it out.  We have had trouble with the spin ons wanting to leak.

Don, I had problems with spin on filters. Leaked every time I changed oil . Then.....
I read the side of the filter and it said to tighten 1 1/2 turns after contact. I was used to 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Not had a leak since. Maybe?????
