Wheels

Hi folks, as I understand it there are two different widths for the wheels for the 11 22.5 and the 12 22.5 tires.  How does one measure and what would the two measurements be?  In other words, is the measurement taken from the extreme edge of the wheel or from the inside of the beads?

Inside the the wheels on the beads Jack a 8 -1/4 will be a little over 10in on the outside and 8-1/4 is what you need for the 12 R

 Seems to me that the wheels that i bought for my 11r 22.5 tires were also 8.25"

Which begs the question Cliff, what would the 11.5 22 use as to width, or does it matter?

Jack 8-1/4 works good for 11r 22.5 two thing changes with different rim width the contact pressure and over all height the difference between a 11r 22.5 mounted on 8 in wheel vs 8.25 would be 1/4 of a inch in height difference, means a lot in horseshoes but not much in the bus world on a highway lol

the wheels are 10 inches wide. i think they are 8.25x22.5.
they had 11r22.5 tires on them.

No need to measure, most all wheels are stamped somewhere along the rim.

8.25" rims should be used with 11R-22.5's.  With 12R-22.5 or 315/80R-22.5, you can use 8.25" rims, but with derating (the manufacturers usually tell that on their sites).  The proper rim is the 9.00" wide.  Tires are measured at the from the top mounted on the rim and at the fattest point-not the tread width.  Good Luck, TomC
