Power steering fluid reservoir
« on: October 07, 2006, 11:59:34 AM »
I can't seem to locate the power steering fluid reservoir on a '81 Le Mirage.  I would also like to know what type of fluid to add.  Seems a bit low, it has a whine at low rpms.

Thanks in advance

If the fluid is red- most likely automatic transmission fluid.  If it is yellow or close to brown, most likely 15w-40 engine oil-like I run in my Sheppard power steering box.  If you have a 2 stroke Detroit, the power steering pump will be on the back of the engine above the transmission bell housing gear driven off the back of the engine.  Just follow the lines and you'll find the reservoir.  Good Luck, TomC
