Removing seized temp sensor?

Hey guys,

I have a 5.9 cummins engine, and my engine temp gauge is bad. I believe the easiest way to fix this is to just get a new gauge and sensor (about $70). The problem is I can not for the life of me get the old sensor out. It is just totally seized. I am not stripping it or anything, it just will not move. Have any of you had any experience with this and have tips for this? I have already sprayed a ton of penetrating lubricant, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.

Any thoughts on this would be great!

after oil comes heat....MAP gas torch, aimed tight at the area, set it up so you can walk away for 5 mins, come back, use hammer on the wrench, give it a little hit in the tighten direction (usually CW), then loosen.  If you can get your impact driver on it no hammer and wrench required.

If you are not using it soak with wd 40 several times a day for as long as it takes .  If that dosen't work get an easy-out.

Heat it up and melt candle wax onto it. I read this tip somewhere and have tried it . Works like a charm.

Almost sounds like a hint from Heloise   I'll have to remember this.

I read it in Farm Show Magazine. Its a newspaper the has stories mostly about the ingenuity of farmers and how they built snowplows out of combines, unfreeze frozen bolts, build their own "everything" from stuff laying around the farm. Some of it is pretty "rube goldberg" but a lot is pretty cool stuff. Lots of good tips and ideas like the wax on a bolt.

Sometimes the candle wax works and sometimes it doesn't. Seems to work better on coarse threads than fine. Don't heat too much or the wax vaporizes.
