Getting all the GM buses in my database is a lil rougher than I thought.

April is a busy month for 4104 purchases. 2 folks have announced on forums and a couple more on Facebook. As soon as I get the serial numbers from the Facebook folk I will update the list.

No, don't have this one. Will send an inquiry.  About 40% respond to my inquiry.

Interesting.  The note says that the bus is in Chapel Hill, NC but the phone area code for is the part of the state west of I-77.  Good luck getting this bus on your list.

Got crickets, or no response.  But got a few more hits on Facebook and 1 on my BCM ad. Now just need to sit down with my notes and masterlist and get a new set of numbers to post.

I just picked up a 1958 VIN PD41043853.  It was converted to an RV by Custom Coaches in the 90's and is currently sitting in Albuquerque with a catastrophic drive failure that may put it's future in doubt...

Hi Jon,

I just got back from a month in Mexico, and when in Aguascalientes I saw what seemed to be a 4104 in the bus station there.   I only briefly saw it while driving by, and I couldn't go back to get a better look, but it had a three-piece rear window with the wide central glass and two narrow side flanking pieces.   Are there any other buses that used this same rear window design?   I find it hard to believe that a half-century old bus could still be in revenue service, even in MX.   Most of the other local and second-class services there are handled by older Mercedes-Benz and Dina buses, including some displaced from earlier first-class services that now have modern MAN, Volvo and Scania buses, so an old 4104 (if that is what it was) is a rarity indeed.   However, anything's possible  -  I saw an old two-axle Sultana in local service in Huatusco, and there are still some Detroit-powered Dinas and others trundling their sonorous way around the rural backroads far from the big cities.

Have you heard of any 4104s in service in Mexico?

John

PS  -  will you be at Paul's for BGW VIII this coming Mem Day?

Clark believe there would ever be a catastrophic failure on a 04.  Some where on this board there are people with the means to repair
a 04.

they just keep on rolling along

John,

Yes to BGM, and yes it is possible that an 04 is still in service down there. I have heard that there were 2 hauling folks around different villages.

I know of 2 conversions in trailer parks and 2 in private collections. I have serial numbers for the 2 in the trailer parks and 1 privately owned coach. Each of the elusive 04's that have been spotted at bus terminals, escape from view before the contact can take another look or stop and check it out.

Your's my friend is the 4th sighting of one of 2 rumored to be in service.

Do you know where the other possible sightings were?   If some of the others were near Aguascalientes, you may have a positive lead on an actual 4104 still in service there.

A few years ago I saw an Eagle in revenue service at Tijuana's Central Camionera, so anything's possible!

June 15th, the 4104 was seen in Auguascaliente yet again. And made it's stealthy appearence and dissappeared before it's pursuer could get turned around. Nice to see one of the old girls still in revenue service.
