So far I have come across about 20 buses misregisteres if that is a word. Example: people share their VIN/Serial number and believe it is say a 1960 but the VIN says 1956.

When I share the actual manufactured year with the owner of bus and break down which vins are which model years. I get crickets or sworn at. Not very pretty.

In one case the year of manufacture was changed when the bus changed owners another after bus was rebuilt after a major accident.

Answer to inquiring minds:

PD 4104-0001 was a demonstrator bus sold to Mexico.
PD 4104-0002 was a demonstrator bus sold to Cuba.
PD 4104-0003 to 0012 wete sold to Greyhound.

4104-0008 is the oldest on.my list. A conversion
4104-5049 is the newest bus that still exists.

4104-5051 has been scrapped.

The last 5 buses off the assembly line
4104-5061 to 5065 went to Mexico.

Dave,

RJ or JL will be giving you the vitals as soon as they see your post. I am away from home and my list. What city and state are you located?

Did you get manuals with your coach? Need a link to free manuals?

I purchased GM PD4104-765 in 1995.
It had two previous conversions that I know about; one by Don Redon and the other by Richard L. Burton. Don purchased the bus in Lincoln, Nebraska. I purchased the bus from Don in Fresno, CA.
I have completely gutted it and have reconverted it. I have also repowered it with a mechanical 8V71TA / V730 combo, larger brake drums, Sheppard steering and much more.
RJ Long supplied the following info; Originally sold to Central Greyhound Lines of New York; hdq. in Cleveland, Ohio in Dec. 1953. Their fleet number C-1067.
It is CA DMV registered as a 1954 year model.
It's current home is in Central California.

Craig,

Thank you for the info on your bus. Its always nice to add another bus to the list and in California too. So far California is in the top 5 for 4104 buses still alive and kicking.

Some of the most useless people in the world according to the Eagles owners.

All we are good for is the to supply spring water for them and kill mosquitos.

Also most of us are full of _hit.

Posted 22 June 2013 - 01:09 AM

Hi All
I just bought a 1960 PD 4104 Motorcoach conversion from a gentleman in Washington State.

The coach was converted in the late 70 early 80's.

The Vin #  PD41044817 and it has a FMCA # 23181.

Any history on this bus would be great. It has been setting for 8 years so I'm redoing things that need replacing.

I hope to have it back on the road next summer.

Thanks Allen

Doug,

Thanks, attempted contact through the FMCA forum. I have a posting there for 4104's too, guess he missed it.
