RJ Thanks,

I will try and put up new list by the end of next week. My home computer is the only one I work on my spreadsheet with. My laptop with excel died and have been too busy to drop it off for repair.

Sid,

I assume that you have backups somewhere. However, you might consider putting it in a cloud somewhere. That way you always have it....

Jon -

"Cloud backup" is basically a back-up service that encrypts and stores your data out in cyberspace somewhere, so if your system crashes, you can restore everything w/o losing anything.

My brother-in-law, a very high-level program manager at Intel, uses a product called "Crashplan," which is the same product Intel uses for all it's laptops throughout the company.  I figure if it's good enough for Intel, it's good enough for me.  Very reasonable monthly rates, too.

There are other plans out there such as Carbonite, iDrive and Mozy, choose what's best for you.

You hit the nail on the head. This 5636 fleet number that appears on the bus in the old photo was probably the very last number assigned to the 4104 (by GH). If you knew the year the photo was taken, or more of the original (particular period livery) was left intact, you could guess which serial you were dealing with based on the fleet number. As you said, we do this all the time with deciphering old photos of Scenicruisers. Scenics and 04s, and others, may have had beween 3-6 different fleet numbers (depending on division moves, and legth of service). Some remained the same throughout. (not many) As you know, Scenics were the expection to the 10 year rule-of-thumb service life for GH. Some went through 5 paint schemes and 20 years of service. I am very lucky to have two different photos of my PD4501-771 while in GH service. One shot in 1964 by Fred Rayman in Iowa (no surprise!), and one shot by Jim Husing in San Fran in 1977 (SF was the dumping ground for Scenics to die!) You have to look at every single fleet number in your roster to see if that one pops-up. With 04s....thats a lot of numbers. My eyes bleed, just thinking about it!

They're are a few numbers that will not appear on your roster. That old Motorbus Society list does have some errors and ommisions. But....It's all we have! Take care

If you know of the whereabouts of a PD4501 Scenicruiser - I would like to add the serial number to my registry of surviving Scenics.  www.tomsgarageonline.com

Did you get this one, in Oaxaca via Kamloops?   http://lianadevine.wordpress.com/about-us/   It's a re-engined 1957.

So, are we going to see either (or both) of your buses at the next BGW?

John,

No I did not know about this bus, I will try and make contact with them. It'd a good
looking bus. I was in contact with another full time couple in Mexico last year. But there 04 was a 1953 I think.

We will probably bring our skoolie to BGW. But since we live close to the event, maybe accept a short field trip to check out the 4104. Replaced start batteries with AGM's earlier this year. But still have a few things to get done before I take her out in public. Replacing subfloor in house for Christmas break.

No time to work on 04. The skoolie is on the road 3 times a month for dog adoption events.  Twice a month in Orange County.
