John,

Thanks for the serial number and location for the list.

Speaking of the list, I am changing the way, I am tracking the buses in the database. Been using Excel as my primary spreadsheet. A guy at work has created an Acess supported database.

So I am in the process of re-entering the 300+ buses.

Then with Mung's help and a couple others we will have the list posted for all to enjoy and have for reference.

You shouldn't have to re-enter them, you should be able to import the excel into access.  But either way, once you have it in access, I can easily take that database and put it on a searchable web page.

I have no idea where it came from, and I have never seen it before, and it certainly can't be the same one that was mentioned before, but a bus will appear at the storage yard tomorrow.   Certainly not the one that was scheduled to be scrapped because that one must have been scrapped cause it certainly isn't at the scrap yard anymore.  Am I making myself perfectly clear?

The search goes on, I have received a couple of duplicate numbers this week. This is not a really big thing as I am rebuilding the database to add up to 2 owners per serial number, plus the original purchaser.

The Columbus Ohio bus claims to have an 8-speed Hydro-Shift transmission.  Maybe one of the only ones left out there. Will attempt a phone call on Monday to get serial number.

4104-2948 is alive and well as a seated coach in Ohio. The gentlemen purchased it from a church in Florida that has owned it for the past 35 years. His intent is to leave it as a seated coach. They filmed Shawshank Redemption in his town. His other bus is the Ford/Bluebird bus used in the opening scene of the movie.

4104-3508 is alive and well as a conversion in Chicago IL. Regularly pulls a 24' trailer full of antique motorcycles to shows. A previous owner updated it with caps on front and back.

I just picked up 4104-3247. I'm guessing it was converted in the eighties. Originally delivered to western greyhound in 1958. I can see where the old greyhound lines decals used to be down the sides and on the bay door which says Chicago greyhound lines llc.  If you have any additional info on my bus please let me know.  The bus is now in Sidney B.C.

Thanks.

Carlito's

Congratulations and welcome to the crazy world of bus ownership. 4104-3247 was part of a 125 bus purchased 1958 by Western Greyhound Lines based in San Francisco, CA.

Traditionally Greyhound Lines would sell off their coaches at the 10 year mark at the end of summer. Then a smaller charter companies would buy them and hold them for an average of 10 years.

I will be checking my records on any info on your coach. I will also be sending you some 4104 related links.
