BUSES GONE WILD IV!
« on: April 16, 2012, 06:32:57 PM »
With just 6 weeks to go, the 4th annual Buses Gone Wild rally at Hacienda Übermut, in Phelan, CA, May 26-28, 2012, is on the horizon! At 11929 Johnson Road, Phelan, CA, it is approximately 12 miles west of Victorville, 1/3 of the way from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

Memorial Day Weekend is typically the finest time of year here in the California High Desert. Daytime temps can be expected to be in the 80s, and 50s at night. Expect a variety of buses, killer BBQ, camaraderie, and telling of tall tales. Parking/camping space is ample, and RSVPs will greatly assist us toward making this the best event possible, and whether to prepare the adjacent parcel for additional parking.

In an effort to fully fund the event, contributions toward food and drinks (and don't forget breakfast(s) . . . we won't!), and optionally the fermented stuff, will be greatly appreciated.

See Ya Here!

Hi Paul,
A friend of mine stopped by my place last week and told me about your local rally/gathering. I am interested if your invitations is open to MCI Bus nuts too. I have not been on the board much lately because I have been busy putting in a new pit outside my shop. That way I do not have to tie up the shop so long when I need to have the bus over the pit. Let us know what you would like us to bring and if there is anything you need us to do and we will try to arrange it.  Bye for tonight.

Of course MCI nuts are welcome! ' looking forward to seeing you, Gene.  I expect the first arrivals probably noonish on Saturday; Sunday tends to be the "main event", and some will linger into Monday  :).  At this point, I believe the only thing we need is your presence!

Calling All Bus Junkies!

Now with only 4 days to go until the 4th annual Buses Gone Wild, we are making a list and checking it twice . . . to include my famous mesquite and apple wood chicken, burgers and dogs, copious brews, sodas, and sun tea, not to mention hearty breakfasts for stay-overs. We're looking at mild temps of 72º on Saturday, 81º on Sunday, and 88º on Monday, with 10mph breezes. For those visitors not yet heard from, there is still time to RSVP! ' looking forward to seeing y'all!

P.S. If you can't bring your bus(es), photographs are strongly encouraged :)

We plan on coming even if I do not have the bus back on the road. I ran into a problem today that may not be fixed by the weekend. See my post about MC5B Air Bag Replacement for the details of my dilemma.
What would you like us to bring?  Does your dog get along with other dogs? We have a 11# wire haired terrier that we are Training to travel in the bus with us. If not I will see if my son can keep him for the day.

Hi Gene,

' understood about bus "issues" . . . ' looking forward to seeing you either way. We have had some compatibility issues with the dogs and they will LIKELY do fine, but in the worst case, ours can be contained in the "back 40" if yours can be tethered in the front. It's a 5-acre parcel, so we've got options.

As for bringing anything, thank you very much, but I think we're on track for a "turnkey" operation, with the possible exception of diet soda, if you're into such things :). If you "camp", bus or car, to bring towels would be a good thing, if you want to avail yourselves of a shower :).

I expect first arrivals around noon on Saturday, and you are welcome on any day over this long weekend.

Hey Paul,

As luck would have it, this weekend is my window of opportunity (leaning heavily upon a buddy of mine who's also a 1st rate fabricator) to attempt installation of generator into the ol' bus. It is going to be an interesting and likely time-consuming experience, so although I'd hoped to visit and take you up on your kind, interesting and fun-sounding invitation, I rather doubt I'll be able, dang it!

I'm sure I will miss a great get-together and am very looking forward to the next one. Hope you get a good turn-out with lots of interesting folks and buses. Thanks again for the invite!

Enjoy,
Kevin

p.s. Be sure to post lots of pics, yeah?!!

I have a friend that is thinking about going from a fifth wheel to a bus and they just got back from a camping Trip to Pismo Beach. I called them this morning to see if they were home and He would like to stop by for a little while after noon. He will be on his motorcycle so he will not take up much room. The bolts for my bus will not come in until the 30th so we will be in the car also. My Friend's name is Ernie Gardner and he will meet us at your place after noon. See you later.
