1954 Scenicruiser
« on: November 11, 2006, 10:32:40 AM »
Hello to one and all,I have the 1954 Scenicruiser that is in the Bus photo section.Their were a couple of comments as to who I was,so this is the reason for the post.My name is Frank Mooney, and I reside in San Diego Calif. The Scenicruiser is serial #082,and I purchased this converted Cruiser in October of 2005 from a Mr Bill Dumas in New Mexico. My first of many goals  in the reconversion of this bus,was the outside which is more or less done.I now have turned my attention to the inside of the bus.Theirs only a zillion things to do to a bus,as you all know.I'll update as I go,thanks for the comments..............Frank  Bosshosssport96

Hello Frank, and welcome to the board and busnut community.

I believe your bus is familiar to many of us who have been here awhile, as it was the subject of a nationwide search at one time following a failed sale and subsequent theft.

You've done a wonderful job on the paint scheme. I'm sure we'll all be looking forward to photos of the interior and your work as you move forward.

Frank, welcome back and thanks for the update. I also look forward to some interior shots. What is the engine going to be, 8V92?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

Frank -

10-4, welcome back!

I remember that bus in it's previous paint livery - that's why I didn't recognize it.  You've done a beautiful job, that's for sure!

Also remember the story of it's theft when Bill owned it.  Seems to me it was found in FL?  Or was it stolen from FL?  Senior moment, CRS!

Again, welcome back!

Gumpy, you remember about that  botch sale, yes it was missing (stolen)for about three years. As was told to me,Mr Dumas informed Bus Conversions magazine what had taken place, and they in turn posted pictures of what this bus looked like.Three years later,a subscriber who was in a park at the time remembered the story about the Scenicruiser, and low and behold, guess what pulls into the park...the Scenicruiser. The local authorities,Mr Dumas and the FBI showed up not to long after to escort the couple to the Cross Bar Hotel where they are both doing time.It appears they were wanted by the FBI as well, which is why they showed up.Mr Dumas (and myself) appreciate what the people at Bus Conversions and the subscriber have done to bring this bus back home.Mr Dumas resides in new Mexico, the bus was found in Texas

So far as putting in a 8V92 in the Cruiser,I have a 8V92 sitting outside this office, got a good deal on it,but do to a lot of changes in my present location (long story),I will probably have to sell it.

Thanks again.....Frank
