Starting with just 2

Just saw a U tube of a 16V-71TTA with a 350kw generator starting with just 2 size 31 batteries. It flipped over quite fast and started right up (course it could have been warm already). Just was amazed that the 2 31's could do it on such a large engine and also spinning the generator armature. Good Luck, TomC

Yeah, I guess that goes to show you that when everything is set up right (good batteries, good connections, wiring in good condition, a starter motor that's in spec, etc.), things work like they're supposed to.

Doesn't take but 1000 amps and MT 50 Delco to start one, now spinning for a few seconds would be different story

That's kind of what I was thinking - they're all easy to start if they catch the first or second time a piston goes over TDC. Its when they crank long enough that you can hear them cranking that the men get separated from the boys. Most days I never actually hear mine turn over - touch the key and it lights up. When I hear it cranking then it usually turns into a problem.
