Rear Flood/Front Driving Lamps

OK, I have a pair of Hella 550 driving/fog lamps mounted within the rear bumper as Rear Flood Lamps and another pair mounted within the front bumper as Driving Lamps. The glass of the lamp is protected by a piece of U-shaped (section across and perpendicular to the bumper) reinforced rubber material that can be formed to the contours of the bumper opening. Mine are pretty ratty after 22 years in service and don't completely cover the circumference of the hole cut in the bumper (they must have shrunk over the years just like me!). I need to acquire some new old stock replacement material for the two rear and two front Flood/Driving lamps.

Does anyone have a source for this material? I looked at Hella's 2012 on line catalog but no luck there. I then tried Real Wheels, where I got some similar material that won't do the job, to no avail as their website did not open. I need assistance locating about 8' of this material.

OK, not a newbie. Been registered since September 2008. I've updated my profile with a pic. I'm having great difficulty posting a photo of the coach showing clearly the black material around the Rear Flood Lights.

OK, let's work on getting the picture larger. Can't see a darn thing on that smallish one. Sorry for that, this one should be much better. Using PCPaint to resize and be under the size limit. I'll check the website suggestions and look for the material.

Have you checked with Prevost parts? There is a possibility that those rubber rings around the lights were a Prevost installed conversion shell part.

That helps a LOT!  Thanks for updating.

OK, two immediate thoughts come to mind:  1) Calling Prevost and 2) Calling Country Coach.

Prevost most likely has a copy of the build sheet for your VIN, which could lead to a part number or source for the light retaining rubber.

If Country Coach installed the lights, they may still have a source for the same thing.

You might have to wait until next Wednesday or after to get thru, tho.

That was a Prevost install all the 1991 models had those last time I checked with Prevost they didn't service the bumper lights or the rubber bumper pads those were a kit 4 lights and 4 pads

Country Coach went out of business several years ago, but try Marathon Coach or maybe Oregon Motor Coach.  OMC is owned by Bob Lee who used to own Country Coach.

OK guys and gals. The name of what I was looking for is "Door Edge Molding." I made a trip in my car to Denver, NC and visited Steele Rubber Products. Thank you wildbob24. They did not have what I needed but did refer me to a company in Charlotte that they were sure had it in stock. That company is Carolina Houdalle Co., Inc. Their phone number is (704) 333-6669. They are physically located at 1914 West Morehead Street. If anyone out there needs some Door Edge Moulding it is their part number 75000317. I picked up 5' at $1.10/foot.

Oh yeah, in case you are wondering what the heck is a "Houdaille" well I know the answer to that question. In fact, the store owner showed me a Carolina Houdaille that he keeps on hand just to answer that question. Is everyone ready for the answer? It is the first hydraulic automotive shock absorber. The manufacturer chose the French word for Hydraulic, I can't fathom his thinking on that one other than it sure is Frenchy fancy.

The french word for hydraulic is hydraulique. Houdaille doesn't mean anything in french. It could be someone's last name, like a brand name maybe.

Don't know French so I can only accept what people tell me. I thought it was some derivation from the French Canadians that left Quebec and resettled in Louisiana. What do I know. Well I now know for sure it is Door Edge Molding. I just wish I had taken a photo of the first hydraulic shock absorber made in America.
