8v92 Exhuast Manifold parts number
« on: January 17, 2013, 02:23:43 PM »
Hey all,

I have a 1989 MCI 102A3 with a non-ddec 8v92 that needs new exhaust manifolds(mine are starting to leak).  My manual skips from section 7 to 9...8 being the engine parts listing.   Does anyone know the parts numbers, and maybe a supplier for a take off set?

Detroit Diesel wants to hold on to theirs for the prices they are asking!! lol

Thanks,

Keith

Are they cracked?  Or just need new gaskets/under $20. They sit on a lip on bottom so make sure they are in place before final bolt-up.

Thanks for the replys,

I will take some pics this weekend and send them over.  They are both leaking from the topside.  I did not see any cracks......may in fact just be gaskets, but the manifolds are pretty rusty, so it's hard to tell.

rusty normal, prob gaskets 99% .studs go into water jackets so if you take out you will drain system.  Most nuts are frozen on studs.  would just plan on them coming out.  Remember what I said about ledge manifold sits on bottom.  Don't force them tight.  If your real quick and have new studs you can switch without draining your whole system.  You will see what I mean when you take a look at them.  Not all go thru manifold.  Have catch pan ready-big one.  If I remember rite 17 gal in system.   Will pick your turbo pressure up a bunch and power.   Bob

Robert,

Thanks for the heads up on the studs, I really hope its just the gaskets...and you are right...power has been wayyyy down.  I'm heading out of town for the weekend, hopefully will be able to take a look on Monday.
