MCI guys, How did you do it?
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:30:08 PM »
Well, I have made it through my first parts order for my Setra since the MCI/Setra merger or whatever you wanna call it. Took over two weeks to complete the order which is still not complete. The simplest parts involve a return call that I never get. I usually don't complain but this is crazy, and get this, the orders wrong. Been trying to order windshield seals for 4 weeks now, still can' get an answer. Is this what I should expect or does it get better. I thought it would be a great thing to merge with such a huge parts and service network but not so much. Just wondering what kind of experience the MCI guys have had over the years?

Wayne,

No idea what they did with yours. However, we have had really good success with them. If it is small orders, they usually get it right. No major complaints.

Now, I will say, they have majorly messed up. However, small stuff, they have gotten okay.

Dave it's hard for Wayne and I to use Luke, NAPA, C&J, IBP, and others who support busnuts as we have uncommon buses to these sources! It's not their fault we chose to be different, but we just can't call Luke an say "Hey Luke I need ******* for a Setra S215, S217, S407, or S417.

Wayne LOL! Hey man don't feel bad I been "HIT" three times more since we spoke on this. Twice with no calls returned and once with wrong parts and STILL NO RETURN CALL!

I haven't ordered from MCI parts since last summer, but no issues with the right part not showing up on time yet.  There was a slack adjuster that MCI said could only be sent next day air because of the warehouse it was in.  (Old slack adjuster didn't have a readable part number to order locally.)

My plan for the future is to order through C&J Bus Repair as they place an order with MCI pretty much every day.

Maybe we should get some MCI's so we can order the parts from Napa, c&j , Luke or just about everyone except MCI, the largest bus parts network in existence. Not quite sure what sense all that makes. I was getting parts from Setra Germany faster than I can get a return call from MCI, actually, I can't get a return call from MCI. I sure miss Amy in Setra parts!
