Micheline 365/70R22.5 XZA
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:55:17 PM »
Hi All,

I am going to replace my 7 year old Michelin 365s with a new set through the FMCA advantage program later this week. The old tires have somewhere close to 30K miles and the bus has always been stored in a heated / air condition garage. The only sun damage would be while on the road.

My choices are pay a $12 each disposal fee or sell/give them away.

Is there a used market for this size tire and if so, what is a reasonable price?

Thanks,

Paul

The 365 is not a tire that trucks use-I would only use that old of a tire on a trailer. I don't believe any bus company would want it-maybe on a tag.

Now the big question is-do you really need the 365 tire? Have you weighed you bus by axle to see if possibly you could get by with a smaller (read cheaper) tire? Would be curious of your axle weights? Good Luck, TomC

Weight on steer axel is 15,960 lb with full fuel, water and stuff. Axle is 16,000 lb capacity (good thing I am on a diet). PO switched out the rims and tires from the factory installed 315s to the 365s. With the Michelin advantage program, it is cheaper to replace the 365s than replace the rims and tires for the 315s. I do carry a spare 365 so I am covered in case of a puncture.

Running your 15,960lbs, Michelin rates this tire at 16,140lb @ 90psi-will give you a good ride also. Good Luck, TomC

Dump trucks and garbage trucks is the market for casings of that size.  Try to offload them to one of those operators.  They might give you 100.00 a piece.

Paul,  where are you located?   Are you running the 365's on the tags?

The 365s are on the steer axle. The date code on both tires is 0407 so they are just over 6 years old and were installed on March 19th, 2007. Don't you love POs who keep every invoice. There are 34,379 miles on the tires based on odometer readings. Michelin claims the tires are good for 4 more years if they are inspected once a year. The peace of mind having new steers is worth it to me and the cost of the new tires is not too bad, just a little bit over $1,000 for a pair of 365s installed.

I have no use for used 365s since my drives and tags are one year old. I just hate the thought of paying the dealer $12 for each tire so they can dispose of them.

I am located approximately 35 miles north of Tampa, FL
