I have been working on my 1982 MCI9 with a double roof for many years-it seems like it should have been done by now, but I think that I must enjoy the building process too much!

Dave,
Why don't you start a project thread so all of us can see why it's taking this long!

Here is some info on the bus we stole. Not litterally the bus was such a deal, already converted and sitting with a full tank of diesel. The bus was not driven for several years, but the bus owner had a truck repair service visiting is every couple of months maintaining the engine.
She is a 1957 PD 4104-2240. She started her life in CA as a bus for the Yosemite NP. She had 3 optional skylights added at the factory (per FVR).
Some of her atributes:
2 roof top a/c's
25' awning
6.5kw gas onan generator, plumbed to former a/c motor tank.
Sleeps 5 plus 2 huskies.
3-way Dometic fridge
Propane heater and 4-burner stove
Microwave
2 sinks in kitchen
Full bath with shower, toilet and vanity.
2 color tvs and each has own antenna
Fresh water tanks under bed in back, gray & bllack in bay.
Inverter.

1962 PD4106-788
Unprofessionally converted in the late '70s. We purchased the coach a little over a year ago for $5000, and have been living in it fulltime since then. It runs and drives great, but the conversion is very dated, and most systems have had issues/failures. That was not unexpected as the work done converting it is at best sub-standard. That's okay because we now get to do it our way. We know we have a long road ahead, but with the veritable plethora of knowledge available here, and my own awesome skillset (
), nothing is impossible!

Looks like a nice straight 4106. Rear deck lid looks great.

Hey Samhill ... Post some inside pics. Maybe we can give you a few design change ideas. I totally stripped out a so-called professional conversion and redid it the right way (my way). But was not living in it during the conversion. You may have already seen my interior pics on one of the RVing websites. It's the gray and blue Prevost. I'll try to put a link to the pics here.

There are several hundred more pics of the destruction and construction, but that would overwhelm my Dropbox limit.

Bus conversion is DONE, and now the home for full-time travel. Look for me parked in front of your house.

4104-1889
Paid $6,500 / Motor is a 671 which I had checked out. Everything looks good. The man I bought it from purchased rebuilt engine from GM in 1974.
Two valve head. Man said it has about 27,000 miles on it now. The bus needs work because it is dated. I drove it to my house, about ten miles.
I was told that it was a transit bus in New Jersey, then a church bought it and after awhile blew up the motor. That is how the man I got from came across it. He did the conversion and it looks nice (just old).
