Stuck like glue!

Is there a secret to getting the turbo housing and the cast iron exhaust elbow apart. You would think mine has been welded together. I removed the v-clamp and have done all I know to do to try to get them apart. Any special tricks or suggestions?

You most likely will need to add a heat cycle to the process.. Soak, heat, soak..

Will start with heat in a day or two when i can get back to it. Tried the big new rubber hammer I bought today. For a minute there I'm sure I could hear it laughing at me...

No leak there Dan lol you need to go down with the hammering not out, I secure the turbo someway and beat down like trying to turn the 90 it can be a chore

I have it soaking in the 50/50 solution but can't get back to it until late tomorrow. Work is getting in the way of my bussin. Will give her another beatin' when I get home.

It is apart!
The new exhaust flanges should be here Monday, the turbo is being built by Tom at Turbo Resources and my pillow block is at a friend's shop. Cleaning all the rust off the mating surfaces on the manifolds and the turbo base is done so hopefully it will go back together easier and cleaner than it came apart.
I do have one area about 1" wide where the left side pipe mounts to the turbo base where the surface is pitted. That will probably cause a weak seal for the new flange and will probably leak and burn it out before too long. What about using some kind of sealer in this area to insure a clean, leak free fit? Anyone know of a sealer that will hold up in those temps?

Always thought a coat of anti-seize during assemble might help, of course I never did it.

The pipe measures 2 7/8" to 3" depending on where you measure it. The flanges ordered are 3" x 3 1/2". I took it to a parts store and a pipe shop and they both called it 3".
I probably wont get it back together before the 2nd week of June so I have time for you to send me one. I could have mine welded and ground off. Would that be as good as an original piece?
