turbo drain tube?

When I changed from truck exhaust manifold to bus(60 series) My turbo drain tube is about 2 inches short. So three choices. cut and splice with rubber hose. splice and solder or buy new tube for bus application. Of course last is preferred but ? is it overkill? This is no pressure return to sump line. Amazing what little details happen when your wrapping up. Bob

If you use hose, make sure it will be long term compatible with hot engine oil. Some will swell/seep at clamps. How about teflon lined ss braided hose?

Buy the right tube many of turbos are sold each day because of bad return lines no way would I use a section of rubber as a splice and then again we all do it our way after over 2 years of blood, sweat, tears and money why worry about 60 bucks now Bob lol
If I was in Phoenix instead of Texas I would send you one for the freight charge

I know it just seems little things slip up on me! I have other little items on get list also.. to late in game to..... Brand new tube also-just not correct one. Need different dip stick also so not only little detail. I should make a list for guys doing truck to bus list of 60 serries. I was lucky and Dick E had most of it when I got engine/trans. Jim and Rusty have been a big help also.

Bob I know it's late, but I am going to call you.
I think I have what you need in the shop and can have it expressed to you.
But the van leaves for E'ville @ 5 AM!

Bob, I've enjoyed my chats with you, but your bus is a mystery to me. Never seen it...never seen pictures. Does it really exist? ;-)

Scott, we golden age guys are not into all the new technology lol I have 100's of photos on memory sticks and never could post one here
Dreamscape would do mine and post here for me if I emailed the ones to him to much of a hassle for me and Paul I understand why Bob doesn't post photos

Bob,
Cliffords right as usual!
Never try to save a few bucks by patching something up. It will bite you later.
Do it right the first time! Most of us have these coaches as a labor of love.

FWIW my turbo on my 8V71T used a rubber hose connection in the drain tube as stock, and I just put on a longer one when I relocated it to put he engine in the bus. I used 1" ID high temp hydraulic oil hose (not high pressure hose, just rated for high temp oil). Same stuff as is used for low pressure on power steering reservoirs.
Got no comment on the invisible bus, sorry...

Any hose that is near the turbo should be high temp braided or stainless.

Here is a picture of the original drain but setup, you can see the hose clamps on the flexible hose to the steel tube. I reused them both, and extended the steel tube down to the pan with a flexible hose.
