How many miles have you put on your bus?
« on: June 16, 2013, 03:58:36 PM »
After read the technomedia overheating issue, I'm curious to know how many miles everyone has put on their busses? I'll start.

1980 mci 8v71 about 100 miles

Drove it home and ripped the interior apart.

750 miles! Drove it home and then back and forth from the yard to the house for conversion. Finish the bathroom, take out a loan and buy some fuel and then get ready for our first real trip! :o :o :o :o

I bought my bus in Virginia in April 2006 and drove it home to Minnesota.  The original odometer was dead and the DDEC had very low mileage so I don't know for sure how many miles.  I'm at least at 30,000 miles since purchase and maybe as many as 35,000 miles.

Probably around 400 miles for me - two camping trips as a tin tent, then started the conversion

In our skoolie in which we haul huskies 48k. Most mileage is city with a  couple of trips to Phoenix and Vegas.

In our 4104 about 500 miles. Mostly close to home stuff. Its hard to find a babysitter for 25  huskies.

I got my Eagle in 2004 and drove it from San Antonio to Abilene, then from 2005 to now I have 44000+ miles with about 3 years parked (caring for and helping our aging parents). From Corpus Christi to Alaska and Winnipeg to the Tetons and Florida and points in between, Nevada, AZ, Arkansas, Minnesota, Alabama, Idaho and Texas are the main places we roost. (knock on wood)  :o only lost two fan belts and an alternator in all that time.
Serviced the air dryer once and oil changes/fuel filters and air cleaners about every 6 months maybe.
Pretty much full time.

I was feeling bad with not using mine, but I'm actually kind of in the middle...  Bought 75% converted in 2009, put about 10K miles on then changed the engine, which took it off the road for almost two years what with moving to Nova Scotia and all, then 1200 miles to bring it here.  Just about to start some short trips around close to home.

We have crossed the country several times, half way across several more times. South to Fl a few times and north to
Nova Scotia at least a dozen times. Many short trips intermixed also. Same engine and V730 trans as when bought.
Everything else, brakes, wheel brgs, differential brgs etc. repaired or replaced. In all close to 200K miles.
1964 PD4106 2741. According to paper work that came with the bus must have a total of near 2M miles. Self converted from seated bus. No glitz and mirrors, pure function.   06 Bill
