Bontragers trip a success !
« on: July 16, 2013, 05:28:04 PM »
Had a successful trip to Indiana to Bontragers. For those that don't know, its like a salvage yard for the RV industry. You could literally build an RV from the wheels to the roof and everything in between ! They have a lot across the street you can park in and work on your vehicle. We didn't bring the bus this time, but we wish we had. Went Sunday from noon to 4 and saw about 2/3 of what they had. Back Monday for two more hours, then loaded up our cache and headed back east. We got windows, blinds, hardware etc. When we build our next bus, we will strip it at home and head there for a week... It would be like working in the factory..Good times !

There is also a place about 6 miles east of there called Johnsons. They had as much stuff, but we didn't have another day to spend there. Scored a couple roof vents with fans there at a good price..

John, Do you know the address of the Johnson one? I could spend days at Bontragers, we were out in the spring and it was almost to cold to look around. Rv salvage doesn't have much any more other than new stuff at camping world prices. JMO.

There is a place west of Bontrager's...west of US 131 on the south side of the road.  It may be Johnsons.  I don't remember the name.  They have a bunch of surplus stuff too.  I haven't been there though because I seem to spend too much at Bontragers.  It is a great place to stop for sure.  I'm glad I only live about 30 miles from there.

I heard there was also a rv salvage yard in Joplin Missouri? Does anyone know the name of it?
