I still have the 4:11 gears that I took out of my 5C a couple of years ago. I don't know if they would fit into a MC9 pumpkin, but they might.

Dave -

Sam Caylor may be your best bet, in Rantoul, KS.  Not sure of his contact info, but somebody else will pop up and share.

Sam's phone number is 785 878 3405. He might have the parts you need but when i talked to him a week or two ago he said that anymore the buses that he is parting out are all about 10 years old or newer.

Pro Gear and Transmission in Orlando FL or Global in Houston will have a rebuilt section shipping will probably be $$$$$ surely someone in Canada can rebuild yours

Ed, Sam has been saying that for years but he still can manage to find parts for older buses if the price is right

I got to spend a day with Sam at Blytheville.  One of  the best days a bus nut can have.

Between him,RJ and Mr. vickers was a great week end.

What gear ratio you need?
I have an '85 96A3 (same as a 9) we are starting to part out that has a good one in it.

If staying with the 8V-71, stay with the 3.73 rear gear, if your headed to the 8V-92, the 3.33 works fine.

Yup that's pretty much my take on it! BTW mine is a 3.33!

I am a fan of the 3:33 or 3:36 with a 740 behind a 8v71, 3rd gear becomes wicked you actually can get up a hill better and faster with the 3:36 than with a 3:73

luvrbus,
With the 23,000lb rear, I never changed the rear gear set after I totally rebuilt it, stayed 3.7, just used the RT910 then the RTO910, if I had the money, would have loved the play the 3.33, the key to the MCI rear gear is to stick with the 10 tooth pinion.  Have forgotten the name of the factory rep for that rear, he had the MC7 also, claimed with the 10  tooth pinion, you have the very strongest gear setup. Just different ring gear tooth count  for different ratios.
He & I had a very interesting talk about how to tell if damage to the rear was warranty or abuse.
Have been lucky to have met some very talented guys and got some stories  ;D ;D
