Cross Country Trip
« on: October 11, 2014, 11:08:00 PM »
Around Feb, we had been planning to uproot and move to California from North Carolina. We bought an RV which rolled up in my driveway one cold rainy night, That beautiful RV was PD4106-2496, which would be my home for the following few months. My grandfather, a Detroit diesel mechanic of 37 years and I worked for weeks remodeling the interior, replacing wires, and airbags to make it roadworthy. We took the bus on US Route 66 through places like Atlanta Georgia, The Grand Canyon, Goodsprings and Las Vegas Nevada, and Los Angeles California, with my Mom, Grandma, and Sister, and currently settled in Bend, Oregon. On that trip I realized how interesting these Coaches are, and I'm now rather obsessed with them.

I just thought it would be cool to share that with you all. Thanks for reading!

Thanks Jax!  It's funny how these things get under your skin and become so habit forming and enjoyable.  I can think of worse habits!

Jax -

Nice story!  The 4106 is a great coach, eh?

FYI, if you didn't know already, PD4106-2496 was delivered new in March of 1964 as fleet number 73 to Frank Martz Coach Company, HQ'd in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Do you still have it?  Are you using it?  Photos?

FWIW & HTH. . .

Hello everyone, sorry for lack of reply, I am still getting used to the site, and didn't know I'd gotten any replies

Funny story, RJ. I had found out the night before last the history of my 4106, and when't to show my Grandfather, who then googled a few keywords which brought him to my story here, where I realized I had gotten replies, which one told me what I had just found out. Super cool coincidence, right?

Yes we do still have the coach, thankfully. I love it and I plan to re-restore it, and modify it to my own preference. We are still living in it, and have relocated to Seaside, Oregon.

I just gave her a bath the other day  ;D

I appreciate everyone's replies and views. (:

It also seems that I can't post a photo, as it exceeds 196KB or whatever the limit is. Any idea how to get around that?
