LED DIMMERS
« on: June 02, 2018, 06:04:16 PM »
I have bought enough led lamps to do the interior of the Prevy. BUT ,as usual I am trying to forgo any problems that might come up and it  occurred to me that I might need to change these dimmers since they are the old rotary style (three).Any thoughts ???? Led's were just arriving on the scene when I retired ,so I am not that familiar with them!!

And the LED's that are dimable need a dimmer that is appropriate for LED's.

Yep Cliff !! I did buy lamps that are dim-able !  But I  was concerned about the dimmers .Thanks Walter .Guess I WILL go shopping  for some new dimmers .When dealing with a twenty four year old coach it is like the Christmas Gift Gag where the person would open a box just to find another box and another box and so on.

I know for sure that a dim-able LED will die instantly, (at least mine did) in a Leviton remote control dimmer switch but the old Leviton rotary with a knob are fine...never tried a slider.

On a scale of one to ten ,,this project rates a one .May just put the old incandescent's back in and forget about it .I tried putting led's on one side using generator power and Ive never seen such a mess .THESE blinked continually and when I tried dimming them ,I had full bright and low.Nothing in between .I thought it would be good to get those Forty Watt incandescent's out of there because of the heat (24x40) but I have plenty of other lights in this thing  plus,I can always dim them down.Coach does have the old rotary dimmers but don't know if they are Hunt Or not.Every body in the electrical business had these on the market at one time Hunt imho had the best one

Just for some interest here I found this video, it is one way to work through some options. I would add some of the commands I suspect could be a bit tough to figure out when you write them. It seems the more clear one can make the code the better.
