Remanufactured 6v92 specs?
« on: January 18, 2019, 01:56:37 PM »
Hi everyone,

I posted a while back after our MCI 102c3 w/ 6v92 broke down in Texas. It's now in Lubbock, and we're in the process of ordering a remanufactured engine from American Fleet in Springfield, MO. Anyone have any experiences with them?

They quoted us $13K + shipping for the engine w/ a 1 year, 100,000 mile full warranty, which seems pretty good to me. The problem is, they contacted Detroit and said the serial number to our current engine isn't in their database.

My fear is that there will be something about the replacement engine that's not configured the same as our current one, and we'll have wasted our money. I'm not sure how much variation there is from one engine to the next. Ours has a Turbo, and I'm pretty sure it's right-hand rotation, and non-DDEC, but don't know much else about whatever else might differentiate it from other 6v92s. Any thoughts or advice?

I've attached a picture of the engine tag, in case that helps...

Thank you, Aaron W.

The reman model # is what is used to identify how the engine is built.

You may want to tell them you want 350HP, that would be 102 ports and 9G90 injectors with Federal cams.
Send me your rebuildable engine core and I'll do it.  PM if interested.

BTW, what happened to your old engine?
