GM 4106 Bulkhead
« on: September 14, 2019, 06:38:11 PM »
      Hello everyone:
This may be a dumb question but, I'll ask anyways. Regarding the GM 4106 coaches bulkhead, is there any manufacturer records available regarding whether or not a particular bus had it's bulkhead repaired, reinforced or replaced, or is this something that one would physically need to inspect?.

Can't remember where in the BCM archives I was reading an article about the subject, but my understanding is that very early on during the manufacturing of the 4106, GM recognized the coach having bulkhead issues and rectified the problem by changing the manufacturing practice. Not sure of the validity of the article I read, but was curious if anyone here new anything else regarding the subject.
    Thanks for reading!.
     Regards, E Dee

If GM made efforts to correct the problem they missed the boat, most broken and damaged structure parts are hidden from the naked eye one needs to dig deep I am finding all kinds of broken areas on this 4106 lol the owner just keeps on repairing though

Don't know what material that is, suspect aluminum? The 4905 is steel.

They should have all been steel to prevent the breaking aluminum is not good for the stress area, the 4106 is really a mess when people cut the area to install a v730 and do not reinforce the area the proper way lol and this one in the photo is a mess
