Closure is at least until Feb. 21st, but I'd expect that they'll keep it closed until we see the trend dropping.

Yes it is still closed to Feb 21 at least. Only open to essential traffic.

And yes we are pissed about the pipeline cancelation. Now you will have to import that much more oil from the Middle East...

OK, staying on topic. The postal service between US and Canada really sucks too, so slow. It took 5 weeks to receive a small package, surely some due to Xmas overload. But even when it was not so busy it is seriously delayed. I've been told it is Canadian Customs where stuff is backing up.

KXL was the worst kept secret. Once it became clear you were going to elect Sleepy Joe the pipeline was doomed. It was already priced into the shares long ago.

Its you that should be extending the border closure and you should be closing your airports too. Your whole country will be vaccinated before we get done doing healthcare workers. Our genius PM had some wet dream about a partnership with the Chinese so we didn't even start buying vaccines until late August. The G20 will be vaccinated in its entirety before 10% of our population gets jabbed.

It's not just cross-border mail that's slow, it's also mail within the US. I've been waiting since October for a Media Mail package to come to Wisconsin from Pennsylvania. A normally 3-day Priority Mail is taking over a week. They are certainly having trouble keeping up.

I got a CD mailer from British Columbia to Ohio in 13 days. Two packages by 2-day Priority Mail were sent from Texas on the same day. One package arrived in 13 days, the other does not show any updated tracking since it left. I would say Canadian Post is superior, and that shipping by UPS or Fedex Ground is the most timely in the US.

At this rate, I wouldn't expect the border to open till 2022.   Ontario is currently in lockdown.

Good luck on the Alaska trip. Would like to see how that pans out. We more or less scraped our Alaska plans for this year. We like to leave in mid April to get a jump on the season.
