Looking for some MCI 102 C-3 parts help.
« on: December 19, 2023, 10:39:47 AM »
I have agreed to purchase a 1992 MCI 102 C-3. Are there other models of this coach that crossover with parts manuals? I have been looking for a parts manual with no success. Anyone have a copy?

Right now I could use the part numbers for the brake chambers on the drive axel. This is the chamber that includes the parking brake set.
I am also looking for a exhaust clamp, it is located on the ( facing the motor ) left side. The exhaust pipe comes off the turbo then drops down through the floor to the muffler. There is a joint in the middle and the clamp has broken and fallen down by the floor. I will try and attach a pic of the area.
I have the service manual from the PO but I do not see the part numbers I need.

Thank you all, I'm sure I will be asking for more

That has modified from the OEM C-3 they didn't replace the flex joint, the OEM had a 90 degree from the turbo to the flex pipe welded on the muffler pipe the 90 degree slipped inside the exhaust pipe with a band clamp, you can buy a 5 inch band clamp from Amazon and use your setup but it needs the short flex pipe for vibration control between the turbo and the muffler

So is that why the clamp is broken? Can I get the flex in 5 inch and band clamp it on to what is there?

Thank you for your input

Work with what you have now cut the piece  and leave a 1/2 space between the pipes where the band clamp goes, band clamps are 3 or 4 inches wide so they will cover the gap ,plus allow for vibration and expansion  and not leak ,you can add the flex pipe at a later date if you choose too

When I expand the picture for a better view it appears to me that the pipe coming off the turbo is going into the pipe coming up from the muffler.
I agree with Clifford on putting a band clamp on it.
It also appears to me that the BAND clamp down at the bottom is connecting that pipe to the muffler. (at least that's what I see from looking at the picture and of course I could be wrong!)

BK, the suggestion from Clifford sounds like the fix I will do. The clamp down near the bottom is the clamp that was originally on there that rusted off. After rusting it had fallen down to that spot and I did not have anything with me to cut it loose. I will as soon as I get back there and get hands on.
1.Cut exhaust pipe
2.band clamp
3.Remove rusted clamp
4.Cross fingers and do the bus pray

Thank you for looking out for me I need all the help I can get.
