After all the years on this board I should know enough to give sufficient information when asking a question. Someday I will learn but not today.
There does not appear to be a brand name on the unit. It was manufactured by convenience marine products in 1982. It is a model 35CG Halon 1301. It is approximately 4in in diameter and 14in tall. The head (top) has 2 wires, orange and black. The outlet for the halon looks just like a sprinkler head for water. It has a link? that would melt and release the gas. Also what appears to be a fill valve.
What I want to do is place the bottle part outside my generator compartment with the sprinkler part in the compartment. It will not fit in compartment. The sprinler seems to be a standard pipe thread, what I would like to do is take off the sprinkler thingy and add a 3 or 4inch extension, can I do this without loseing the gas?
