Calendar Problem.
« on: May 15, 2006, 04:47:47 AM »
A problem I have discovered with the calendar is that after entering the Event, Subject, and Message on the appropriate date, the date does not show up on the post that appears on the BB.  We can make these post a separate BB.  Opinions and suggestions welcome.  Jack

Hi Jack,

I bet your having fun with this calender ::)

I know a lot of Busnuts were probably overwhelmed with all the posts yesterday, but this was a onetime thing with the original populating of the calendar.

When I look at the calendar, I would like to see who and where,

If that interest me, then we could go to the topic to find out more information.

Under the topic should be a post that describes all the event info...pictures...etc....

Thanks for all your efforts on this.

Just my .02

Actually, I have several more events to enter and anyone can post events to the calendar.  I am concerned that this will "overload" the BB.  I will have to check with Phil, But I think if we make a separate BB. Going to the calendar and clicking on a date wll take you to the calendar BB.  I will put contact information in the message section of the post.

Jack,

I misread your first post.

Yes,  I like the idea of a seperate BB for the calendar to link too.

Hope that can be done :)

Jack,

Mabe we should disable the posting to board for now, until we figure out another way to notify of events!

I will gladly setup a new board for the calendar.  That's how we ran it in test.  It could be listed right up there between help and the main board.  The buttons would be just the same.

The reason a seperate discussion area for events wasn't set up is that there has always been a strong sentimate on this bbs for one large discussion area with all topics.  However, I'm thinking this may be an exception to that rule as there are sooo many events, and it really is a different kind of discussion.  The large number of posts from the calendar can overwhelm all the regular bus discussions.

My 2 cents as a BBS member are to seperate the calendar discussion from the main bus discussion.
