Posting Stuff for Sale at Rallies
« on: September 14, 2007, 02:02:53 PM »
OK, Heres my statement and question

One of the problems with the $50.00 limit in the "Spare Tire" section is a lot of us have stuff worth more
than that, that we would like to sell. And its stuff other "Nuts" may need or want for there conversions.

Any chance of an exception for upcoming rallies?

Would it pass the muster of the powers that be, that maybe we could list stuff that we have for sale
under that particular rallies topic, then we could bring it if someone wanted to buy it?

Or maybe a rally items for sale in the "Spare Tire"

Every rally that I have been too has a flea market of some sort going on anyway.

I know I have pieces, parts that I will transport if there is an interest!

Same with my classifieds on my site... The site is aimed at the RTS but anything can be listed for sale. I know there is lots of stuff in the Market here but I can hardly think of anything for a bus for $50.

Cliff, I would like to see that also, but this is Mike's BB and he has the final decision. Maybe Phil can discuss this with him.  Jack

First, let me come clean on this subject.  It only came to mind as Kyles rally is coming up and I can't even discuss several items that I might sell or there price because of the current restrictions..And there to much trouble to haul otherwise...Besides it always has annoyed me and many others that we can't....

Also, I have NO bone to pick with MAK or anyone else here.

That said:

Tekebird and Connel,

Come on guys.....REREAD the question!!!  ::)

I know about BNO flea market for the record... ;)  Have used it myself....Appreciate being able too!

Look at most of the last rallies, 90% of the original notices for rallies started on MAK BBS.

And probably just as much of the hype and conversation.

Right now there are 5 posts about Kyles rally on BNO and 41 on here.

Where do you think the bulk of the conversation is on these rallies  ???

I just want to enhance all of OUR use of this medium, to all of our benefit.

I totally agree that this is Mikes BBS, but without all the contributers it is nothing.

All of us have made this BBS a success....Owner, Moderators, Members and Guests...

Heres my analogy:

I think $50 is a bit of a small limit for a hobby as expensive as ours. That is what I was saying above. I understand that they don't want complete buses sold here because they have the classifieds for that. But as said, this is the MAK board and the owners have the right to set the rules. And I agree that this is the best bus conversion site around.

clif you might just ask if anyone is interested then discuss the "sale" off board.

I don't get bus conversion magazine so I don't know what is in there in the way of conversion bits.

But....very little is ever online in this catagory.

Understandably selling a whole bus would be treading on toes...although this is also done in round about ways sometimes not even at the behest of the seller ie my folks 4108 which was posted as an Ebay link by another member.

Although I beleive this Board is more active I suspect those who are attending rally's are reading both boards.

Why not just list everything you have for sale for $50 each and make up the difference in delivery charges?

LOL   2007 Custom Coach MCI EL4500.

50.00
title work: 865,000.00

or

could list the entire bus by parts.  50.00 each but must be sold as a lot.

It seems every couple of months or so we seem to go through this.
We all know this is a business (no Prob) We know by subscribing we help keep this board going. (w/ printing costs I
  don't see how)

So a little outside of the box compromise.

If a rally is coming up one person take the lead to gather who would like to bring what.
The people that are bringing items split a fee for the privilege of posting on what people may need.

Being there is no setup fees and this is one shot special events situation hopefully MAK will make the
price attractive. If you were going to a flee market there would be a booth charge etc.

If the MAK price is not acceptable then you can still gather what people want to bring by emails, post  no price
and if people are interested then bring it and set the price at the Rally.

    Just a simpletons thoughts.

Now boys and gurls...I do not wanto open a can of real stinky worms...however...I don't understand what the big deal is about listing items for sale...or items needed?
Please edumacate me?  I read something about this being a business...I am not quite grasping the whole concept here.  Please enlighten me.
Thanks a ton!

the board is owned by MAK who has an online classifieds as well as a magazine with classifieds.

he wants his cut is the jist of it...hence the 50.00 limit on things in the stuff for sale
