removing front a/c and blower section

hello from texas
working on 80 model prevost, looking at removing the dash a/c and blower to install a new
evaporator and fan section to run off my aux a/c compressor. looks like a big job to make room
for it. has anyone gone thru this on a prevost. may have better luck in locateing it in my kitchen
cabinets below the sink area, i would like to have it up higher thou. the org door opener my have
to go,  any help will be helpful. thanks jt.

Why can't or why dont you want to use the existing dash a/c and just feed it from the aux compressor?

It is already set up with ducts, fans etc...

I just cleaned mine off yesterday and replaced all the duct tubing.   I am going to pressure it up and see if it holds.

the blower needs new bearing and also i think the exspansion valve is for f 22 refrig, and i would
have to cut it loose from the road air and try to cap it off, the road air still is working , the auto
type compressor in on 134 freon, thanks j.t. laney

I was thinking about also replacing mine, but after getting knee deep in it yesterday I am going to explore how I can reuse it.

They did a darn good job of getting it all to fit under that dash.

And after replacing the duct, it blows real strong.

I also found my fresh air vent in the front doesn't stay closed at 70 mph or really sealed at all.

No wonder I felt a draft of warm air the other day.

after i opened the can , i decided to pull the fan motor, it's kinda like the restroom, i think
they set the restroom on some saw horses and built the bus around it.still have not gotton
the fan motor out. may need dynmite. thanks j..t

If I have an existing R-134A evaporator for the driver, can I just get a R-134A street rod type compressor and condenser and tie them together?  I also want to add a second evaporator for the front passengers.

The bus air compressor, main evaporator, and condenser are gone.

Yes,

You will have to add an additional amount of freon to compensate for the extra evaporator.

This is what they do with the rear air systems on vans and suv's.

You wont need it but they have a valve to control freon flow to the rear evaporator.

   What  do you have for dash AC?  Any pictures?  Any part #'s?  Since the front of my bus is similar perhaps I could use yours as a guide.  I'd like to add engine driven AC to mine, it's not high priority yet, I'm kinda doing research as to what options I have.

I still have the stock a/c componets under the dash.

I was thinking about ripping them out, but after I cleaned the evaporator and replaced the vent tubing.

The blower really pushes some air.

I started thinking about putting an automotive compressor on the engine.

I cut the original tubing running fore and aft, but could use it as a chase for some new tubing.

Does your 4107 have the front a/c componets intact?

If not I can get you some pictures and/or send you a copy of the manual pages.

    Does your bus have an evaporator under the dash?  Mine just has a heater core and 2 big blowers.  In mine the AC for the driver was ducted along the left wall of the driver's area and blew back at the driver from the far left bottom of the dash.

Hi Jerry and Cliff.  It was nice meeting you at the gathering last weekend.  Go to www.danhard.com/ and download their catalog.  I'll bet you can find some ideas there for dash air.  My MC-8 still has it's original driver and coach A/C that works fine (for the time being) so I'll use that.  When it dies, I'll have to investigate something different.  Maybe a window unit split to run the Freon to the dash evaporator or something similar would work.
