« on: June 22, 2008, 07:46:18 AM »
hi folks, I had a mishap on the rear drive axle. a guy change my tire  on the road and ruined six of my lugs. I have a '83 MCI from NJT and need to replace the lugs. the bus is on jacks at the mechanics.  MCI wants $32 each. no one local can find them at all.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks,  tom

Tom, try a local truck parts house, if you can find one open today. Other folks have had decent luck with various items at NAPA. Where are you located?

Here is what happened.   The service truck guy had me drive up on the inside wheel to bring the flat outer wheel off of the ground. he did not know (me either) that the lug held on both wheels. I was blessed that the bus did not end up on the ground. it did however ruin the lugs.        I brought 3 different studs to my mech's shop before removing the wheels. they came from a truck parts house.  None were right. WE have a good Napa but they can not match the lugs.   I do know that New Jersey Transit has heavier brakes and wheels and I believe this is the reason i can not find a match for the studs locally.  tom

Quit refering to them as lugs (nuts) and it would be clear to all that you have a stud problem

Tom, You have hub pioloted wheels then right? I bought mine from a local parts house, they had to order overnite. You need to go to a local truck garage and find a Eculid stud book. Yes I may have spelled this wrong. I looked thru and found what I needed, 300.00 for 40 w/nuts.  Tom Y
