Buying and Converting a School Bus by a Coach Converter
« on: March 15, 2025, 11:24:11 AM »
This article compares the conversion of school buses (Skoolies) and over-the-road coaches, highlighting the pros and cons of each. School buses are cheaper to acquire and typically roadworthy if recently in service, while coaches may require more maintenance, though they offer better quality and comfort after conversion.

The conversion costs are similar, but the process is often more labor-intensive for school buses. School buses have higher ground clearance, making them more suitable for boondocking, but their rough ride and limited space for tanks and plumbing can be challenging and make them less suitable for all-weather travel.

Coaches provide more space for tank installation and plumbing and offer a smoother ride, but they are more expensive to purchase and convert. Ultimately, choosing between a school bus and an over-the-road coach depends on travel needs, comfort preferences, and planned adventures.
