Dina conversion

Has anyone converted a Dina bus. We have a 98 that we are starting on. We have never seen a dina converted, and just wanted to find someone who had done one. Would like to corresspond with someone who has one and exchange information, pics, etc. We have a 1974 gmc buffalo now that was converted in 98. We have been using it since, but, it was partially done when we purchased it, and we want to do our own. We travel for work, and can average 80,000 miles a yr. Can you tell more about Dina as far as about the chassis. Is it truck frame (rail) type or it build like the MCI & Prevost?

Gerald, the Dina is built pretty much the same as MCI or Prevost.

Yes, it has torisilastics instead of airbags, but the main chassis construction is still very much like a Prevost or MCI.  Dina does have some sort of frame rails from the rear axles on back, but it is not a body on frame like regular class A motorhomes.  There are still trusses below the windows like any of the newer buses.

Jerry, while the Dina does have a torisilastic it is different from the Eagle doesn't quite give you the same ride but still a good ride, the Dina is one tough bus built for the Mexican roads it has square torisilastic tubes and air bags on the tag axle instead of the round tubes Eagle uses.A good bus just prone to electrail problems the ones I have been around,can be bought for a good price with a S 60 DD and B500 transmission, another draw back is most have a high deferential gearing and only use 5 of the 6 speeds on the transmission still a good depenable bus

Ours does have a series 60 in it, and it has an Allison Worlds transmission. Thanks for the info. If anyone has pictures of a conversion done, or being done, would love to see them. Has any one raised the roof? We are having ours raised 8 inches. We have plans on putting in a pro heat system, and considering running heat in the floor too, and we are putting in basement central air. We live and work out of ours, so, we are trying to get the most out of it.

Hi Ken (ruthi):  You mention about floor heating. I assumed you already knew one our bus nut has a website on floor heating in his MCI-9. If not…here the link to view Craig’s project. BTW…your Dina (I now learn) is similar to his.

Hydronic Heating System by gumpy Hope Craig will chime in. Also he has done wall heating.

Hey, thanks for all the useful info. Still havent gotten any pics to look at. If anyone has some of a dina, please let me know. I didnt know about the floor heat link. It is amazingly close to what we had planned. Got some useful tips from it though. We have a webast in the bus we have now with fans, but we want to put heat in the floors in the new one. Again, thanks
