Jakes on S 60 DL3
« on: November 10, 2008, 11:16:08 AM »
We are looking at getting Jakes on our S60, in our MCI DL3. My question is, is there enough room for jakes on the engine? We will be building our floor for our conversion so I wondered about raising the floor over the engine for more clearance for jakes.

Any thoughts,

God bless,

John

John316, there is room be sure to get the right ones they have 3 different models of Jake's for the 60s engine, and if your is equipped with the B500 Allision you will need some reprogramming.AZ Transmission in Tucson has barrels full of Jake's for 60s he may make you a good deal     have a great day

Hi John316,
On the DL3 seated coaches that I have seen with S60 engines there is only room for Jake brakes on the rear 4 of the six cylinders. To put Jakes on all six cylinders would require raising the floor above the forward two cylinders. However, I have not seen the later DL3 coaches nor newer S60 engines so it may depend on what year DL3 you have.
Good luck, Sam 4106

Thanks Sam, I wondered about not being able to have them on the front two. I think, since there's no time like now ;D that we will raise the floor.

MMA2S, Thanks for the purchasing tip! And yes, it is a Allison B500. A little programming? Oh, well... I've had worse...but then again, nothing is easy with the bus. ;D ;D ;D LOL

God bless,

John
