Hi:

I'm looking at a 10 year old 35,000(?) btu Proheat that hasn't been used now for almost 2 years.
12 volt system. Seller says it worked well heating his workshop (hydronic floor heat).

What do I need to check (and maybe how do I check it ) before I make a deal on this?

If I buy it, what should be serviced on it prior to installation?

What would be a reasonable price an unreasonably high price for this??

They range from $500 up to over 1K. I just sold a ProHeat X45 for 500 bucks, 12 v and used.

I dunno what they are worth but, if you buy it, I will 'splain to you in greater detail than you would ever want to know EXACTLY how it works.  Trust me - I know.

I bought two from Nimco bus in New Jersey for $650 for the pair. I wanted a spare if needed. Then bid on one on Ebay and got it for $1100 with shipping. The Ebay one was brand new production 2007.  Check Ebay there are some right now. The guy selling them is in New Jersey.

If your looking at a 35,000 btu unit, it is probably the X900 unit which I don't think is made any more. The X45 replaced it at 45,000 btu's. Unless it is really cheap and it is seen working I personally would go for a X45 unit.

If it was fine at shut-down, it'll be fine now.

clean out the combustion chamber and give it a new nozzle and fuel filter.
