A/C Compressor & Coil

Looks like I'll be removing the A/C Compressor & Coil on my 82 Eagle. Will install a generator. Any options for getting rid of the unit & coil?

John, have you thought about installing the genny and the battery bank in the front bay a few I know that some have it in the rear and have a porpoise effect (depending on the size) and some don't but you will always have the noise and vibration in the bedroom and other plus is a long exhaust pipe will cut down on the noise I don't even have a muffler on mine and it is very quite     good luck

Thanks, I will certainly consider that. There won't be any major decisions made for a while. I didn't think it would hurt to go ahead & remove the unwanted unit. If I could get the blowers working properly I might keep using it for a bit since we will be steel tenting while in the learning & discovery phase.

John, I have the generator and batteries and my pump for the levelers in the front bay on my 05. It Makes my front axle weight a little more than it should. I am running bigger tires in the front and I think it makes the ride a little stiff. My next bus I am moving the generator back to one of the rear bays to try and get less weight on the front axle. I know of a few people that have mounted the generator in the back but I don't think I would like it under where I sleep.

My generator and batteries are mid ship across from each other and pretty balanced. The generator is actully right below the kitchen and how often are you in the kitchen? Besides its only a slight hum! Mostly its used while travelling so it really doesn't bother us!

Condenser coils are worth money at the scrap yard, but not nearly as much as this summer.  The more extraneous stuff that isn't aluminum or copper you remove the better the price you get in general.  I spent some three or four hours cleaning up my coils, window frames, and the like and the scrap yard owner said it was well worth my time as I got more money.

A local bus garage might take the compressor and give you perhaps $100 or $200 for it.  Welch Industries buys compressors, but you might not get anything after Welch Industries pays the shipping costs.  C&J Bus Repair gave me something like $200 for my used compressor a few years back.  (Not sure on actual amount as it was never itemized on my $9k bill.)

Call Nick, he is our moderator and he's in the business. Sometimes he has a use for them. I would never take mine out, did that on my first Eagle, big mistake for me.

I know nothing about Eagles but I would guess that your AC evaporator and heating element are in the same air box. Remove the evaporator but leave the heating element in place and keep the air box sealed. The heating element probably looks like a small auto radiator.

If so, do yourself a favor and keep the bus heat. My 4104 heating system is still intact and works great going down the road.

The element with your compressor is probably the condenser which you will have no use for once the compressor is gone.

Is your A/C not working? If it is I'd leave it in.

Our gen is mounted in the front bay driver side in our Eagle 01. It's an older Onan and noisey, but it'll do for now. I hear that location is very popular for cool air intake coming from the front axle area.
