Microphor toilets. Opinions wanted!

I have someone who has a beautiful microphor toilet LF 220 and is willing to part with the item for very cheap. Before I go up and pick it up, I thought I would get some opinions from this group.

Any ideas, concerns, issues

Not sure if that's the model number of mine. I'd have to look tomorrow. The info is in the bus and it's pouring rain right now, so it'll have to wait. Anyway, I love my Microphor. Definitely worth the money, and it was a LOT of money. If you are getting one for a good deal, it's definitely worth picking up.

They make a model that require pressurized air, and one that just uses 12v electric. Mine is the latter. No air required.

Craig, thanks for the quick reply. It looks like the one I can get is 12 volt as well. Everything works and the unit is very clean 

If you do not mind me asking, what did you pay in round numbers?

I cannot find a price online.

I too have the Microphor unit and it operates well. I believe it has a bit higher seat which benefits us, and mine is a 12V unit.
I did not install, but rather my PO did,  I am unsure of current pricing. I understand they are pricey, but I can say it would be worth it, as the china bowl is very easily cleaned. I did have a problem initially when I acquired the coach in that there was a leak between the small "drop out box" and the china unit. The box is plastic and holds the flapper valve, its connection to the china is held with two small threaded J hooks. I needed to pull this and re-caulk (IIRC 5800). Took me twice to get it correct, but not a leak in 4 years. BTW, the web site and phone assistance was great.

Money is tight, but I would not believe you would be disappointed in the performance, cleanliness, & appearance.

Grant depending where you buy the toilet retails new for around 1200 bucks.
I have the 12 volt  model replaced the flapper seal 1 time in 15 years

I have model 229 with a wall mount flush handle.I bought mine about seven years ago and paid $600.00.So far I had to replace a seal that leaked.They have great customer service and I would buy another if I had to replace mine.

In round numbers.... $700 including shipping from CA.  Yeah, I about had a heart attack, too, but so far, it's been worth the money. I had purchased another name brand china toilet at a fraction of that price, but to be honest, I don't think I could have comfortably done my business on it, and I know others in my family could not have (because I specifically asked before I was ready to install it).  This is one item I don't regret spending the money on.

I've only seen one of these toilets, but I am leery of a toilet that requires electricity to flush.  I bought the Thetford Aria Classic for close to $500 shipped.  It has a foot pedal instead of the electric flush mechanism like the Aria Deluxe.

The Aria has an elongated seat like all of the toilets yoou see in public restrooms so it has plenty of room.  It supposedly will use a standard elongated toilet seat if you ever need or want a new seat.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this......
But wholly crappers!! That's a lot of money to flush down the drain! I mean $500-$1,200 just to take a dump? Whoa, I think my hole in plywood with a bucket under it idea sounds a lot cheaper!

I would have liked to go with a less expensive toilet, but I really wanted the elongated seat and I had to go with the Aria to get that.  None of the other toilets I looked at that cost less seemed to have that long of a seat. 

I have the elongated toilets in my house and I am really spoiled by them.  They only cost maybe $20 each additional when buying a new toilet.

I will second this opinion.  I've only had this brand of toilet a couple of months but it is nice.  The PO had a fancy/expensive marine style toilet with a small seat and a shallow bowl.  It only took one day to decide to trade out a perfect operating fancy toilet for a house style toilet.

I don't have any experience with Microphor.  However, after my first experience with RV toilets I highly recommend you measure your seat and the toilet seat to make sure they fit.  There is another thread about toilets you might read.  To find it search on "mister happy taking a dip" to read about other measurements that might concern you.

To be clear, I am not using a house toilet.  Just about any of the RV toilets can emulate a regular house type toilet.  The vast majority of house toilets are the smaller seat and don't have the elongated seat like most public toilets.

No, just drops straight out the bottom.  We don't stay in one campground very long.
