LED Mounting

Wanting to skip buying the commercial mounting hardware and build my own. Under cabinet can you mount the LED  diodes block of 12=  67 lumes in a recess routed into the underneath of the cabinet bottoms?  Glue  in?  what kind of glue? Mechanical fastener?  Ideas??    using  G4 12 volt 1.0W on EBay less than $2 ea.   30,000 hr life-span  Bob

Bob, just thinking here but what about peg board? All the holes are drilled in a strait line, evenly spaced and light weight. Cut on a table saw and make it about 12' in sections with wood blocks to screw it to. Paint it black or whatever your under counter will be for a nice finish.

Why build your own mounts? G4 bulbs, whether LED or incandescent, will fit off-the-shelf mounts which can be bought for little money and come in lots of styles. Here's a basic type available on UK Ebay for £1.30 ($2) each. At that price it's hard to imagine it being worth trying to make your own:

Tried EBay USA  couldn't get to come up.  will keep trying.   Bob  Not wanting to pay $20 packaging at Lowe's or home depot then throw halogen bulbs away.  Same 2$ led on line put in package at Lowe's are 9$ [  spots on line 4.59  Lowe's $24.95  all for fancy box}apples to apples. just for bulbs.     Hold up artiste!   Bob

  will hot glue work?   If no one has tried I guess it's time for me to just jump in.  Definitely the answer to low power consumption 12v lighting.   Bob

I have 12 volt flourescent fixtures in the bus for main lighting. They are old and the ballasts failed. So I took out the guts and put in  2x 15 led strings in each fixture. Cost less than new ballast and uses less power. The 15 led strings are BRIGHT and come with an adhesive backing so just stuck them on. I'm also converting all the reading lights to leds but haven't found any that are bright enough yet. Even got a led bulb with 80 leds on it. Trouble is that experimenting gets expensive.
