MCI 102A-3 Radiator Compartment Door Repair
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:47:29 PM »
The hinge pin on my left radiator compartment door has severely rusted and broken in several places. It appears impossible to pull out, punch out or drill out the hinge pin. My first thought was to just pull off the hinge and install a new one. However it appears to me that the hinge has been spot welded(?) to the door. Any thoughts on how to replace the hinge without demolishing the door? Thanks.

You might be able to drill out the spot welds and then rivet or re-weld the new one on.  You might also have some luck grinding or cutting the welds off with a roto tool.  I bet if you post a couple of pictures, some of the pros here will have some good advice!
