That would be a monstrous project. Somebody would have to be deeply in love with it, know what it once was, and have deep pockets. That person might not be still living. The price is a bit ambitious, a better one would be scrap value minus the cost of moving it. With that trailer hitch on the back, it might have been used to move livestock.

That could have been some civil defense command post someplace. Perhaps a fire or police department used it and at some point, a new one was purchased and never got around to selling this one and it sat for any number of years.

That was a thought I had as well, I used to own a 1955 REO Civil Defense truck that had a similar shape with only 9,000 miles on it. Most of those type vehicles did not get used very much, and they had a lot of exterior storage doors. This truck looks like it was used a lot. It might have been a highway mail sort vehicle or command post, but with that heavy spring hitch, it was pulling a sizable trailer. The title (if there is one) might reveal what it was.
