V730 transmission

I have listed a V730 Allison transmission for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested. It is in excellent condition and i have access to another one as well.

Gerrie has a good price for those V730 lol I think I would had those dynoed instead of testing one in my own bus unless it was cheaper to remove and replaced that a Dyno test.He shouldn't have a problem selling those no one can have to many V730 around if they own one in a bus.last rebuilt V730 I got from Penske was $3200 and change fwiw

I thought it was a fair price Cliff as well. I did the test in my own bus as I have a garage so all is done indoors out of the weather. With it being a GM and the transmission at the side it was only a matter of a bit of grease and using a crane to lift it.

You are a honest man Bill most sellers of used a V730 would have clean it, painted and called it good BTDT with one seller here,hope you don't mind but I posted the Ebay numbers on a few F/B pages for you

Still many V730's in commercial service. Just have yours overhauled by a commercial transmission shop (I used United Transmissions here in California) and I doubt the transmission will ever go out in your lifetime. Good Luck, TomC

I think the V730 is a good transmission in the right hands ,I read a paper done by the Feds and UMTA conducted  back in 1982 with 3244 transit buses in the study UMTA paper 82-19. 
You can read it on archive.org dot tsc, I was surprised the study showed the V730 in transit service had a life span of 45,000 miles some only lasted 2,000 miles lol no reason transit authority had so many on the self.I have saw the V730 with over a 100,000 miles in highway coaches with 1 driver though and never missed a lick
