Adding solar panels
« on: March 27, 2019, 01:01:19 PM »
Wanting to increase my boon docking capabilities.

I have 2 solar panels on the roof that I am guessing are about 100 watts each for a total of approximately 200 watts.

The controller is a Morningstar Sunsaver SS-10L-24V rated at 10Amps (solar in). Evidently the 12V panels are wired in series to feed the controller 24V. And it charges the batt bank at 24V as well.

I have space on the roof to double my panels for a total of 400 watts.

Could my controller handle the 400 watts?

I am not good at electrical stuff, and don't know the answer.

Thanks.

JC

Thanks. That was simple!

So I see that a Sunsaver SS-20L-24V (20 amps) would do it.
